Tips for a great pumpkin picking day and for the best pumpkin photos in Hampshire by Stephanie Atkins Photography

Here’s a guide to some of the best pumpkin picking spots in Hampshire, plus tips to make the most of your autumn day out.

Pickwell Farm

Bursledon, Grange road, near Southampton

Pickwells is a lovely rustic pumpkin field where you can select your own pumpkins, take them back to the entrance in a wheelbarrow and pay by the size. There is a great farm shop on site too. It is free to enter, there aren't any other 'attractions' it really is just old skool pumpkin picking! I love doing my pumpkin photo shoots here and will here on the 4th October.

Sunnyfields Farm

Jacobs Gutter Lane, Totton, Southampton, SO40 9FX

Sunnyfields is the full on experience, with all the attractions, immersive rooms and lots of photo opportunities. They have pumpkin growing competitions, food and drinks a 'glow trail' in the evening.

It changes year to year, including the pumpkin mountain display which is very impressive. Pumpkin picking isn't quite as authentic as Pickwells as they are already picked and the pumpkins are laid out in rows or in a field.

I find the pumpkin prices here rather expensive on top of the entry fee too, but the children love it. Under 2's are free.

Bourne Valley PYO

Strawberry Fields, Hampshire, Egbury Rd, St Mary Bourne, Andover SP11 6DQ

I love Bourne Valley PYO as it has good parking, fab cafe and a big park for the kids. I have done strawberry picking here and reviews also state that pumpkin picking is good value too.

Droxford Pumpkin patch

Meon Valley, Hampshire

A lovely local pumpkin patch with lots of wizardry activities, pumpkin carving, hay bales, playground, face painting, costume competitions and more. Great place for pumpkin picking and pumpkin photos in Hampshire

Free parking, refreshments available and under 2's are free.
