SNACKS (aka bribery) to make your family photo shoot go smoothly!!!

By Stephanie Atkins Photography

mum, dad and little girl holding sunflowers, walk hand in hand through a dried Hampshire field.

There is nothing worse than a HANGRY child. I recommend that you bring snacks to your family photo shoot to prevent an almighty meltdown. Sometimes a little snack break/bribe is all it takes to focus a child for just 5 more minutes.

I do however recommend that snacks aren't messy, or take ages to eat.

My go to's are:

  • Yoghurt raisins (nice sweet treat)

  • Bread sticks

  • Banana

  • Pre cut apple

  • Pom bears

  • Veg stick crisps

  • Plain biscuit

  • Gummy sweets

You get the idea :)

Here is an example of a not so good snack.....orange carrot puffs - they make a mess and stain mouths!!! I'm sure, like me, you always have a wet wipe to hand!!!

I also have little tricks up my sleeve for getting the shots. This little basket is handy for hiding snacks in too which I will try and bring to all shoots so at least I can still get some photos during 'snack time'.

Snacks/treats can also be used as bribery to get you to the end of the shoot. For example, haribo's in exchange for co-operation and plan an ice cream trip or Mcdonalds stop after your shoot if they do well.
